Join us with a self-directed or PCAC-organized Mapathon!
Mapathons are an efficient way of bringing a group of people together to fill in missing pieces of maps and data. Drawn from the legacy of hackathons and Art + Feminism’s Wikipedia Editathons, PCAC Mapathons are easy and effective at adding new sites to our collective map.
How to self-direct a mapathon
- Ask a group of 10-20 people to meet at a coffee shop, local park, a neighbor's house, or an art center in the coming few weeks.
- Provide snacks, lunch, or a pot-luck style dinner.
- Walk through PCAC's About page for 10 minutes, reading out loud each paragraph.
- Direct everyone to our Submission page.
- Individuals or small breakout groups can tackle specific cities, neighborhoods, regions, or states whose art centers they know well. Set a goal of submitting 20 sites per person. This can be done on a smartphone or laptop.
- Watch your impact in a week or two as the PCAC Team accepts your submissions and adds your centers to the map!
Bring our team to you
PCAC is happy to organize mapathons for your organization, city, region, or community. After a pilot mapathon for Seattle with Common Field in 2022, our team is looking to help bring your community’s art centers to the world on PCAC.
